Free EssayThe integration of immigrants in the social life of the society is extremely important because it contributes to the inclusion of the immigrant population and prevents the emergence of problems associated with the exclusion of immigrants. In this respect, it should be said that the exclusion of immigrants raises a number of problems, including the problem of the lower employment opportunities for immigrants, limited educational opportunities, growing crime rates, social tension and other problems, which gradually affect the entire society. In such a situation, the integration of immigrants into a normal social life is crucial. At the same time, it should be said that the integration of immigrants into the society is traditionally conducted by the state and it is state policy which define the immigration policies and the position of the immigrant population. However, today, the state can hardly cope with all the problems immigrants can face in the modern society. In such a situation, the assistance of public organizations is needed because public, non-profitable organizations can facilitate the adaptation of immigrants to the new cultural and social environment and help them to get integrated into the society. On the other hand, the integration of the immigrant population into the society should not lead to the total assimilation of immigrants but rather provide them with an opportunity to find their own place in the new country, society and culture. In such a context, the functioning of such organizations as the North York Community House is particularly important because such organizations do not only help immigrants to adapt to the life in the totally new socio-cultural environment, but also preserve their culture, traditions and identity.

Custom essayThe figure of Heathcliff as an embodiment of coercive male power. To what extent can he be seen as an emblem of patriarchy.

It goes without saying that “Wuthering Heights” is one of the most impressive novels of his epoch. The main characters drawn by Emily Bronte with all her inner power strikes the reader. One of the most powerful images in this novel is the image of Heathcliff, the main character of the novel.

Heathcliff is surely one of the most contradictory character in this novel. Under the opinion of many scientists Heathcliff became an embodiment of evil power in the novel. And it is supported in many ways in the novel: furious passion, aggression, anger, hate of this character made Virginia Woolf name him “the most vivid male image in the literature”. He embodies not only the evil power, but also masculine power, which made him so attractive to Catherine Earnshaw and Isabella Linton.

In a social sphere such reaction on “pressure” traditionally are labor movements and strikes. In this essay we will talk about labor movement and key factors that led to it.

If we look to the history we can see such situation: “The labor movement has helped achieve a higher standard of living for U.S. workers. However, in the 1980s and early 1990s the number of work hours had begun to increase, while compensation lagged behind a rising cost of living. In recent decades the percentage of workers belonging to labor unions has declined, and since the late 1970s there has been a marked decrease in membership in manufacturing unions. In 1945 about 36 percent of all nonfarm employees belonged to labor unions; about 16 percent were members in the early 1990s.” Creation of labor unions initiated the stage of the organized fight of workers broad masses, incorporated for the joint appearances in protection their own economic interest.

Every year more and more people die or are registered as living with HIV, and these numbers continue to grow. Due to this, this is urgent and absolutely necessary to work out the concepts of HIV prevention, where one of the important ones should be HIV education. Nowadays scientists and doctors know much more about HIV, about the ways of transmission and possible treatment procedures. This is evident, that further researches are necessary to overcome this disease. However as we already said – prevention is the key element for protecting people from HIV. Education is very important in fighting with HIV, first of all if we are speaking about young people. Thus there are two main reasons, why HIV education is  so important: to prevent them from being infected, as very often HIV is transmitted through unsafe sex contacts and drugs usage and to reduce stigma and discrimination, because people, who are already infected, experience discrimination in health care, employment or housing spheres (Aggleton, 2).
