Religion is a very important aspect of our life. All the religions are good and unique. I think that religion is very personal choice and nobody has the right to make pressure in order to influence it. I will compare one of the main Islamic celebrations – Ramadan and Christian Lent. They both have common idea, which unites them. Both, Ramadan and Lent include fasting. Fasting is an old practice, present in almost all world religions. In both, Islam and Christianity fasting has a religious meaning. It aims to bring up self-control, purifying of body and mind and making a sacrifice to God. The wording can differ, but the sense is the same. As it was assigned I visited the website of World Bank and chosen three regions from the presented ones. They are the following: Europe and Central Asia, Latin America and Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa. From the selected region I chose Ukraine, Jordan and Belize correspondingly.
In order to understand and evaluate the World Bank’s work in these countries it is important to understand and evaluate its mission – “The World Bank Group’s mission is to fight poverty and improve the living standards of people in the developing world”; the ways for achieving this mission are – “loans, policy advice, technical assistance and knowledge sharing services to low and middle income countries to reduce poverty” .
