Traditionally, art played an important role in the human life, but the art performed not only aesthetic functions, but it also contributed to the order in human life. Moreover, art is not just a spontaneous form of artists’ self-expression, but it is rather a complex structure which can be analyzed and it is through the analysis it is possible to understand its significance and the order it brings into the human life. In such a situation, it is very important to understand the art as a complex structure.
In this respect, it should be said that art is an essential part of human life. Many thinkers believed that “art exists because it helps bring order to human experience” . Such a view on art is particularly noteworthy taking into consideration the fact that in recent years “arts have not been distinguished by a concern mainstreaming harmony” . In such a way, it is obvious that the view on art as a powerful tool that brings in order in human life persists throughout cultural changes in the course of time, which apparently influence the perception of art.
At the same time, art is very important in human life, even if people do not notice the influence of art on their perception of the surrounding world. In this respect, even ordinary objects can have artistic value for people. For instance, specialists estimate that “each home contained a symbolic ecology, a network of objects that referred to meanings that gave sense to the lives of those who dwelt there” . Hence, ordinary objects prove to have certain artistic value and influence human life.
However, in order to understand the true significance of objects as well as art at large, it is necessary to apply analysis. In this respect, it should be said that the formal analysis can be very effective. Basically, formal analysis is “the analysis of the form the artist produces; that is the analysis of the work of art, which is made up of such things as line, shape, color…” . Hence, the analysis of the artistic work actually implies the analysis of various elements which actually comprise the work of art.
At the same time, to conduct an analysis of the work of art it is necessary to begin with the description which is “an impersonal inventory, dealing with the relatively obvious, reporting what any eye may see” . In such a way, the description is the superficial view on the work of art and its brief analysis. But it is also necessary to dwell upon the in-depth analysis of the implicit meaning, theme of the work of art and artist’s message to the audience.
Thus, in conclusion, it should be said that art constitutes an essential part of human life. People are surrounded by work of art even though they do not perceive them as true works of art. Nevertheless, they have to understand the significance of art. For this purpose, people need to be able to analyze works of art. The latter implies not only a superficial description, but also an in-depth analysis of the work of art.
