During the last year of my studies in college, my father was diagnosed with skin cancer of last severity. Like many cancer patients, he spent most of his time in the hospital, and he often talked about how attentive to him was the hospital staff and volunteers. And although my job does not allow me to devote enough time to volunteering, I still try to do it. Volunteer work has allowed me to help others overcome the pain and helplessness of the disease, which I know firsthand, because my family faced this. It’s a pleasure that I get to help patients and their families, incomparable with anything else.

I found that my work helps me to cope with the death of my father. If not him, I probably would never have become a volunteer. The work that I do is a tribute to his memory.

Now I know what is good about altruism, I firmly believe that companies should actively participate in charitable activities. I was very glad to see that other students in Kellogg School think the same, as evidenced by the program «Business with a Heart». I think that my experience and knowledge would be useful for participants in this program would contribute to the development of their project, as well as in communicating with my classmates.
