Learn as much as possible about the university. Determine what makes this university so special?
Do not just say: "Duke University is a great place" - specify which academically strong hand attracts you, call the professor in charge of research out there in your area, or research centers working in this field of knowledge. Identify the uniqueness of the University.
What are my professional goals?
Do not just say: "My goal is to get a degree from Duke University," - demonstrate how through education you want to get the logic of your personal and professional development. Your training will be a continuation of what you have already started and will help meet your specific needs.

II. Essay writing.
Start by writing your responses to the preliminary questions.
Organize your ideas: write a plan, for example:

Paragraph 1: Introduction
Attract the reader's attention with something exciting.
Formulate the main idea in the beginning of the essay.

Paragraphs 2,3,4: The main part
Give evidence to support your main idea.
If appropriate, give specific examples from your life, study, work. You can write about your family, your country, about someone who you admire.

Concluding paragraph

Repeat and reinforce your main message. Tie the conclusion of the beginning of the essay. Perhaps you should make to your text a note of optimism.
