2. Purpose of the study
The researcher, T.G. Buchholz, aims at the study of the effects
of fast food, especially burgers and fries on the health of
consumers and their cardiovascular health in particular. The
author attempts to reveal possible risks and threats of trans
fat, their effects, and he attempts to provide recommendations
concerning possible ways of the minimization of the development
of health problems, such as cardiovascular diseases in the
result of the consumption of food containing trans fat.
3. Summary of methods and procedure
The researcher analyses the effects of the consumption of
food containing tans fat on health of people in the context
of the contemporary food culture. To put it more precisely,
Buchholz researches food habits and the increased role and
amount of consumption of fast food rich in trans fat. In such
a way, he attempts to reveal the interdependence between the
consumption of food containing trans fat and the development
of various diseases, including cardiovascular health problems.
At the same time, the author takes into consideration statistical
information which helps better understand current trends and
impact of trans fat on human health. For this purpose the
researcher compares the food habits and major diseases people
suffer from today.
4. Key findings/results of the study
Eventually, the author arrives to the conclusion that contemporary
people are not always aware of effects of the fast food consumption
and they pay little attention to their health. In fact, Buchholz
reveals the fact that trans fat can be harmful for human health.
In such a context, he does not simply criticize fast food
but, instead, he suggests alternatives which are safer for
human health. Thus, the author reveals the risks of trans
fat and offers possible ways of minimization of trans fat
consumption. The author lays emphasis on the fact that people
should pay more attention to food they eat and be conscious
of possible negative effects of this food on their health.
5. Critique
Basically, the article is well-structure and provides convincing
arguments against the overconsumption of food containing trans
fat. In this respect, it is important to underline that the
author provides not only criticism of trans fat and fast food,
but he also suggests alternative ways of nutrition which are
less harmful for human health.
On the other hand, the author presents the problem of negative
effect of trans fat on human health and cardiovascular system
as a problem that dates back a couple of decades ago that
may evoke alternative explanations of the development of cardiovascular
diseases, for instance, the change of lifestyle. In such a
way, it is possible to put under a question his conclusions.
At this point, the author should present a problem as a long-run
phenomenon.
6. Practical application
This article can be very helpful for understanding contemporary
food habits and trends and their evolution since 1980s. The
article also reveals negative effects of trans fat and indicates
possible ways of the prevention or minimization of their consumption.

2. Purpose of the study
The authors focus specifically on the effects of trans fat
on cardiovascular system and cardiovascular health of people.
In addition, they attempt to reveal beneficial effects of
the consumption of trans fat.
3. Summary of methods and procedure
Basically, the authors study effects of trans fat on cardiovascular
health by means of the physiological analysis. They analyze
trans fat and its effect on molecular and physiological level.
At the same time, they do not only focus on positive or negative
effect of trans fat, but also they provide recommendations
on the nutrition and minimization of trans fat consumption.
4. Key findings/results of the study
The researchers conclude that the consumption of trans food
does not have beneficial effects on cardiovascular system.
In stark contrast, they may be very harmful for human health.
Eventually, they recommend avoiding the consumption of trans
fat in order to minimize the risk of the development of a
cardiovascular disease.
5. Critique
The research represents a profound physiological analysis
of the impact of trans fat on human health, especially on
cardiovascular system. In such a way, the article provides
a detailed, scientifically grounded information on the mechanism
of the impact of trans fat on cardiovascular system.
On the other hand, the research leaves room for doubt whether
trans fat is harmful or not, because even in the conclusion,
the researches state that there is no beneficial effects,
while harm is possible that means that the effect of trans
fat may be not harmful. At this point, it would be better
to warn about the threat of overconsumption and recommend
the diet containing the minimal amount of trans fat.
6. Practical application
The article is useful as a source of ample information on
physiological characteristics and effects of trans fat. In
addition, it provides information on beneficial effects of
the reduction of trans fat.
